Our vision is to be the leading mobility provider of safe and reliable transportation in Thessaloniki and in Greece.
To achieve this, we place the health and safety of our employees, passengers, and the wider community at the forefront of everything we do. Furthermore, we are dedicated to preserving the environment and minimizing the impact of our operations on the planet. Sustainable practices are at the core of our operational ethos.

In pursuit of the above, THEMA follows an integrated approach to managing risks and opportunities. Being aware of its responsibilities and duties towards its customers, employees and shareholders, we are committed to internationally recognized quality, health, safety, and environment standards through the use of best practice. We will act in an ethical and socially responsible manner and operate with safety and sustainable practices aimed at the full compliance with safety and environmental regulations and continuous improvement of our processes.

Our ambition is to avoid negative impacts where possible, enhance positive effects and contribute to sustainable development. This policy applies to all activities and to all personnel working for of THEMA. We will agree with contractors and suppliers the compliance of this policy.

We are committed to:

  • Integrating HSQE in how we do business and demonstrating the HSQE importance through our leadership and behavior.
  • Identifying critical success factors, monitoring, measuring and seeking to continually improve performance in relation to these via the achievement of associated KPIs as our objectives.
  • Operating the metro line safely, protecting people, the environment, community and assets through the implementation of a HSQE Management System.
  • Respecting the cultural heritage of workforce with which we operate.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, including all applicable health, safety, environment and energy efficiency laws.
  • Consulting with our workforce and promoting workforce participation.
  • Providing the necessary means, information and resources for the above to meet the related objectives and targets.

We believe that HSQE is a common responsibility:

  • All personnel acting on behalf of THEMA are responsible for ensuring that the HSQE policy and principles are understood and implemented at all levels of the organization, ensuring participation and consultation.
  • We work systematically; eliminate hazards, understand and manage risk, undertake improvement processes based on surveys and risk assessments. For any identified HSQE hazards and impacts, measures will be taken to reduce any related risks to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (the ALARP principle). Safety first.
  • The facility is operated to minimize energy and water consumption, emissions to air, noise, discharges of liquid effluents, and waste generation.
  • The health and well-being of personnel is important for THEMA. We monitor occupational risks of personnel and take appropriate actions and training. We aim for a safe and attractive working environment characterized by respect, trust and cooperation.
  • HSQE management of contractors and suppliers shall be done in line with this policy. In addition, we expect our contractors and suppliers to fully comply with this HSQE Policy.
