The Thessaloniki Metro Operation Control Center is the “heart” and “mind” of the System and the Network. It is where all Metro operations are monitored and controlled in real-time, ensuring the safe and reliable execution of routes and passenger service.
Passenger Safety
Passenger safety is a primary objective of the Operation Control Center. Using the most advanced technology of the GoA4 Automatic System of the Thessaloniki Metro, the employees of the Control Center know the exact position of each train in real time and monitor the smooth movement of trains in the network as guaranteed by the Automatic System. They also monitor all security cameras at the Stations and along the lines, and in cooperation with the Station employees, ensure the immediate service of passengers.
Timetable Compliance
The employees of the Control Center, monitor trains’ position and condition in real-time, check and verify that the timetable is adhered to.
Communication with Passengers
The Control Centre is responsible for communicating with passengers through announcements at Stations and trains.
Maintenance and Support
Continuous monitoring of Metro systems aids in properly maintaining mechanical equipment and rolling stock to guarantee reliable operation.
