THEMA S.A., the Thessaloniki Metro Operation and Maintenance Company, was established through a collaboration between ATM S.p.A. and Egis Group, two leading global groups with extensive experience in providing services in the fields of Infrastructure and Transportation.

ATM was founded in 1931 and has been managing Public Transport in the Milan area since then. With 17 years of experience in Automatic Metro systems, ATM has successfully managed the operation and maintenance of networks in Milan, Riyadh, and Copenhagen.

Meanwhile, Egis is internationally recognized for its proficiency in designing and implementing transport infrastructure and services, handling operations at 20 airports and 27 motorways worldwide.

With the core objective of delivering high-quality passenger transportation services, THEMA is committed to provide Thessaloniki with a modern Public Transport Mode characterized by the reliability of its network, passenger safety, accessibility, and environmental sustainability.

Leveraging its expertise and global experience, and utilizing state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology provided by ELLINIKO METRO S.A. through the Metro Network, THEMA aims to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors of Thessaloniki. By efficiently operating and maintaining the system, it seeks to provide safe and rapid access to the city’s central axis and its extension, thereby significantly reducing traffic congestion and air pollution.
