Temporary suspension of passenger service
Temporary suspension of passenger service due to testing of the line extension to Kalamaria.

Kalamaria Extension

The Kalamaria Extension is scheduled to begin operation by the summer of 2026. With five new stations spanning 4.78 km, this extension will address the mobility needs of both residents and visitors, boost commercial activity, and improve the quality of life in eastern Thessaloniki.
By connecting the city center with Kalamaria, Aretsou, Nea Krini, and Mikra, the extension will reduce traffic congestion and significantly enhance the area’s air quality.
Like the Base Line, the Kalamaria Extension is equipped with the GoA4 Automatic System, ensuring the highest standards of safety and reliability. It complements the Thessaloniki Metro, which stands as the most modern, safe, and reliable metro network.
