This strategic plan is based on the &#8220;Thessaloniki Metro Development Study (MAMTH)&#8221;, which was implemented by Elliniko Metro with funding from the EU Structural Funds (ESPA). It is a comprehensive Transportation Study aimed at formulating a Transportation Plan for the city of Thessaloniki, with 2040 as the target year.<br>The study was conducted over two years (2021-2023), during which the transportation patterns of 30,000 household members in the city were recorded, interviews were conducted with 67,000 car drivers and taxi passengers, and 690 km of road network were surveyed.<br>The results of this study highlight the need for a reconfiguration of the transportation network to cover the entire city with modern public transport services, the creation of two Metro lines with 44 Stations, and the extension of the network to the areas of Western and Eastern Thessaloniki.
